| * The Trades Register is a
short cut - in five languages - for finding where in Poland specific articles are
sold/manufactured or where specific trades are available. (Widely practiced trades such as
shoemakers or tailors are not included; the reader is referred to Section A.). An
alphabetical list of various branches of industry and trade are provided with the word
determining the specific kind of trade placed at the beginning. E.g. instead of Mfrs. of
Textile Goods, the reference is "Textile Goods, Mfrs. of" and instead of
"Factories of Sweets" the listing is for "Sweets, Factories." The English list provides the Polish translation for the article/trade. The Polish listing in the Trade Register indicates the towns with page numbers where the article/trade made be found. If a certain trade cannot be found, readers should look under the major heading. For example, "Nitrate" will be found under "Chemical Mfrs." The majority of Trade Register listings include a reference to related trades. In the Polish language this reference is abbreviate to p.r. Listings in the Trade Register with a star (*) indicate that the companies listed have paid for advertisements or special notes in this section. These companies may or may not be listed in Section A. |
