Type / Call # | Personal / P-017 | Personal papers, correspondence, and other material relating to the Phillips family (1733-1954). Papers center on following members of family, Jonas Phillips (1733-1802), Naphtali Phillips (1815-1868), Roslie Solomons Phillips (1872-1945), and Naphtali Taylor Phillips. Various organizations these individuals were involved in are also included in the collection. Also contains a letter written by Tyler to Joseph Simpson, in which he expresses his feelings about the United States as a country of religious liberty. The letter is written on the four blank pages of Simpson's letter tA Tyler, which protested the appearence of Gen. Winfield Scott at a missionary meeting. The first part of the letter is missing. Tyler's letter appears in Publications of the American Jewish Historical Society, Vol. 11 (1903), pp. 158-160.
