Type / Call # | MISC ITEMS / P-107 | The collection contains material from the following members of the Seligman family: 1) Henry (1828-1909), a letter, with typed transcription, written from Frankfort (1870), addressee unknown, to rescue Mrs. Abraham Lincoln from poverty after the defeat of the Pension Bill for Presidential Widows, 1869; 2) Isaac Newton Seligman (1855-1917), a letter on a business matter (1898): 3) William Seligman (1822-1910), a copy of a speech delivered on July 4, 1903 at the banquet given by the American Chamber of Commerce in Paris, accompanied by a letter to Cyrus Adler from Isaac N. Seligman; and 4) a bill of exchange payable to Sir Moses Montafiore, written by J. Seligman & Co., San Francisco (1870). Also included is a letter, written to Edwin R.A. Seligman as a representative of the Educational Alliance, discussing the negative characteristics of the recent immigrants, and the need for a Yiddish newspaper to educate them. | Years | 1870-1903
