The collection is arranged according to the following subject areas: Pesonal material, material on the Genocide Convention, material on genocide. The personal material contains biographical data; Lemkin's writings and correspondence primarily concerning the genocide Convention, its adoption by the U.N, and its ratification by the U.S. and other national governments; and articles on the genocide Convention referring to Lemkin. The material on the Genocide Convention contains general correspondence and articles; early drafts of the convention; records of the U.N. proceedings on the Convention; informational material, statements, and resolutions on the Convention; and essays and research notes on the legal status of the Convention and its historical precedents. The section on genocide contains source material and extensive reserach notes and unpublished essays on incidents of genocide in history. The scrapbook contains newspaper clippings on genocide and the Genocide Convention. |
