London, Hannah Ruth Papers, 1943-78

Type / Call #Personal / P-347The collection consists primarily of research notes for Ms. London's published works on portraits, miniatures and silhouettes of American Jews. The notes contain family histories of the subjects as well as information on the artists, and are arranged both by subject and artist. The collection also contains published articles on the subject of London, and photographs and lantern slides of the artwork that have been removed to the picture collection.
Also contains original writings of London, including poetry, a script for a television documentary and an unpublished autobiography. Included in notes on her family history is a genealogy of the Abravanel-Mickleshanski family.
Also contains a notebook of letters written by London's son, Robert E. Siegel, from his induction into the United States Army in 1943 until he was killed in France in 1944, correspondence with soldiers and the War Department concerning her son, as well as personal items and photographs.
