DWORKIN / DVORKIN (ALSO VARIANTS DEVORKIN, DAVORKI
Description Family of Avraham Dworkin of Mir, Russia/Poland/Lithuania, now in Belarus. Avraham Dworkin had at least two children from his first marriage, possibly while living in Kovno/Kaunus (?): Jacob/Jake (married Annie--5 sons: Meyer, Maxwell, Herman/Hymie, Phil and Leo) and Minnie (married Joe Comen--4 sons: Bill, Ben and 2 others, possibly Lewis? and Phil?. Bill married Rose--they had a daughter Natalie, and also adopted a son, Irwin). With his second wife, Esther (previously widowed, and who may have been previously married and possibly had children from her first marriage), Avraham had at least 3 children: Sam (married Bessie); Feivel (married Etka); and Elka Sara (married Yisroel Nachum Cynkin, who would become Isidore Shankin in the US, c. 1905: children Shaina Etel/Jeanette, married Jack Axelroad--2 daughters, Eleanor and Estelle; Zalman Ber/Sol, married Thelma Hersey--1 son Alan Shankin, 1 daughter Sara Shankin; Itsche/Irving, married Jean Weingard--1 son, Marvin, 3 daughters Eunice, Enid and Sandra; and Leah, married Simon Ball--2 daughters Marsha and Ellen.

Feivel remained in Mir and perished with his wife and children Elka, Yitzchak, Herschel, Eliyahu and Avraham Isser, during the 1942 annihilation of the Jews of Mir. Feivel's only surviving son, Yerachmiel, was a partisan fighter during the war and afterwards emigrated to Israel, where he became and remains a member of Kibbutz Nir David. Yerachmiel and his late wife Yocha's sons, Natan, Shraga and Arnon, all live in Israel, although only Shraga still lives on the kibbutz. They spell the last name Dvorkin.

There are also Dworkins in Johannesburg who are related, but we do not know how. Were there more children of Avraham and Esther's marriage? Did Avraham have other children from his first marriage?

DZIEKIEWICZ
Description Our search concentration is on the following: RING, Herman (Tzvi Hersh), wife Helene ( Leni BLOCH) and their children; Bernhard, Leopold (Elikom,) John Joseph, Clementine and Salca (Sali). In addition we are searching for Helene's second husband Adolph KWASNY or KWASNEY and son, Felix Michael KWASNY who later changed his name to Felix Michael RING.

In 2003 a professional researcher in Bielsko Biala was hired and offered the following results. The information comes from Jewish record books, city census records, tax and business records from The State Archive in Bielsko-Biala.

Around 1870 Herman RING went to Kety near Biala (Bielsko) and from Kety he went to Bystra near Bielsko. Herman RING died in Bystra house number 8, in July 21, 1884 at 34 years of age and is buried in the Jewish cemetery in Bielsko-Aleksandrowice, grave number: F-VIII-2272.

Bernhard RING was born March 23, 1883 in Bystra, house number 8. Bernhard RING and was the son of Herman RING and Helene (Leni) BLOCH.

Baruch BLOCH was the father of Helene (Leni) BLOCH-RING.

Salca (Sali) RING was born in Bystra in house number 8. She died April 13, 1881 in Bystra. She was the daughter of Herman RING and Helene (Leni) BLOCH. Sali is buried in the Jewish cemetery in Bielsko-Aleksandrowice in children sector "D".

In 1885 a baby was born to Herman RING and Helene (Leni) BLOCH in Bystra. The child died during birth and was not named. The baby is buried in Jewish cemetery in Bielsko-Aleksandrowice in children sector "D".

Our suspicions have been that Helene RING was married twice. What the researcher discovered in Poland lends more credibility to those suspicions. It's possible this is why the parentage for Leopold, John, Clementine and Felix is so confusing. No information on Leopold, John and Clementine was found by the professional researcher. It's possible that the three were born in what is now Bystra, Nowy Sacz, or Grybow, all of which are near Tarnow in the province of Galicia.
